Less Than Three Years to Go!
December 29th, 2007 marked the 1000 day countdown to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010. The anticipation and excitement continues to mount since Alltech proudly became the first ever title sponsor of the World Equestrian Games in June 2006.
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 will be held in Lexington, Kentucky USA from the 25th of September – 10th of October 2010, marking the first time these championships have been held outside of Europe. The games are held every four years, half way between each pair of consecutive Summer Olympic Games.
Another first for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 is the addition of paraequestrianism, marking this event as the first to include eight disciplines. Past games have included seven disciplines: dressage, show-jumping, eventing, cross-country, vaulting, combined driving and reining.
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 are expected to attract more than 650,000 people from around the world who will experience the passion, excellence and performance that this event promises.
The World Equestrian Games are held every four years, between each pair of consecutive Summer Olympic Games, and are the major international championships for equestrianism, administered by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). They showcase the world's most exceptional equine athletes at the zenith of their performance.
Riders competing at this level go through a rigorous selection process for four years leading up to each competition. Each competing country sends the most skilled and talented riders in their discipline.
