There are few people who are true heroes and legends - Lis was one. A two-time Olympic individual silver medalist in 1952 and 1956 (Helsinki and Stockholm), she had overcome polio to become a champion. As she was still paralyzed from the knees down and her hands and arms were affected, she had to be lifted onto her horse, the great Jubilee, every time she rode. At the 1952 Olympics, the gold medalist, Henri St. Cyr, gallantly carried Lis to the victory podium.
